
Mohawk College is hiring a Manager, Indigenous Student Services for a 12 Month Contract.
JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Director, Service Integration, the incumbent is responsible for managing and supporting administrative processes, student support services, the physical and operational needs of the Aboriginal Education and Student Services Centre (AESS) and outdoor space (Hoop Dance) as well as the budget and Human Resources related to the operational activities of the AESS at Mohawk College.
The Manager, Indigenous Student Services is responsible for compiling Aboriginal Education Council & Board of Governor Reports; assisting with the identification and implementation of short and long-term initiatives and strategies; managing student support services and activities, administration of special projects/contracts; and budget and finance planning & reporting. The incumbent also provides administrative support necessary for the organization and functioning of a variety of programs and services that contribute to the success of the Aboriginal Education & Student Services' diverse client base. Due to the complex interrelationships of the many client groups and stakeholders involved in this varied activity, the development and ongoing maintenance of effective systems, policies and procedures in support of client requirements is paramount. This position performs a key administrative role that supports the Aboriginal Education & Student Services area in meeting departmental goals and objectives within the Division and the College's overall strategic and operational plans.
The incumbent will have a relationship with support staff, faculty and administrators across the college to whom there is no direct reporting structure. It will be necessary, especially, to develop partnerships and relationships with the Director and Special Advisor, Indigenous Initiatives; Manager, Indigenous Education; Director, Counselling, Accessible Learning Services and Health; Associate Director, Recruitment; and Supervisor, The Mohawk Experience; as well as support staff and faculty that report into each of these areas.
The incumbent must have a cultural awareness of the indigenous perspective and world view. The manager is expected to offer indigenous knowledge and leadership as needed/delegated.
